Is the handwriting real?
Yes, in every physical sense. Your message is written with a real pen and real ink by precision writing machines in a natural handwriting style. It is not a printed font and not a photo of handwriting. We say this plainly because we would rather earn your trust than imply a person sat at a desk with your card.
How fast does it arrive?
Cards are usually written and mailed within 1 to 3 business days. US delivery typically takes 2 to 5 business days after that. International takes longer and varies by country.
Is there tracking?
No. Cards travel as real first class letters with real stamps, which is part of the magic. If a card has not arrived after 10 business days in the US, contact us and we will reprint and remail it once, free.
How is the recipient's address captured?
You choose on the product page. Select "Straight to them" and enter their name and address there, and we mail it directly to them. Prefer to hand it over yourself? Select "To me first" and it comes to you. At checkout you enter only your own details. Either way, the recipient's address is used for exactly one purpose: mailing your card. It is never sold, shared for marketing, or added to a list.
Can I send a card anonymously?
Yes. Check "Send anonymously" when writing your message and we sign it "A friend who cares."
What are Ready to Send cards?
Cards that come with a thoughtful message already written for moments when the words are hard to find, like sympathy. The message appears in the writing box and you can keep it as is, edit a line, or rewrite it completely.
How long can my message be?
On a card, up to 1,000 characters, about 200 words. A short note sits on the inside-right page; a longer one flows across both inside pages of the folded card. Want more room? A Real Letter gives you a full page, up to about 300 words in real ink, in its own envelope.
Can I change or cancel my order?
Contact us immediately at support@thewrittenhug.com. Cards enter production quickly, often within hours, so we cannot guarantee changes, but we will always try.
What if my card arrives damaged or misprinted?
We make it right. If your card shows up damaged or the printing is not what you asked for, we will reprint and remail it free of charge, or refund you. Just send a photo to support@thewrittenhug.com within 14 days of expected delivery and we will take care of the rest.
Do you mail internationally?
Yes, to most countries, with shipping included in the price. Allow extra delivery time.
Can I have it arrive by a specific date?
Yes. Each card page has an optional "When should it arrive?" date. Choose one and we time the mailing so the card lands close to that date. The exact day is not guaranteed, because real mail keeps its own schedule. If you leave the date empty, we write and mail within 1 to 3 business days, and USPS delivery takes about 2 to 5 business days after that.
